If you haven’t noticed, there are millions of websites on the internet today, and this number is ever increasing by the numbers. Therefore, to make your website visible online, you will have to submit your website to search engines it would be good if you empower your website with SEO so that you stand a chance of meeting up with this current online website competition. This article is to offer you tips on going about this.

Step One Study Your Competition:

This step entails that you critically analyze the success of your opposition. You should be on the look out for the websites that are enjoying top ten placements on the Google search engine. The qualities you should observe are their keyword usage and keyword density. Needless to say, the website in question should have business interests related to yours. You should try to have an idea of the type of source code and Meta tags that the top ten websites are hosted on. Check up on their back links by checking up on the websites that they are linked to. The popularity of the linked websites will give you an idea on the amount of traffic that the competition is gaining to get that top place on search engines. You should know how many pages are on the site.

Step Two – Start Writing Quality Content

Before submitting to search engines, you will need to have keyword enriched content. Ensure that you put in your keywords in your Meta tags. The keywords will help promote your visibility on the search engines. Make sure your topic is the same with your content, or the whole goal would be defeated.

Step Three – Use Really Tight Keywords

As I mentioned earlier, competitively analyze the top ten websites. Look in on their keywords, but do not employ the same ones that will be using. Instead, generate yours for maximum effect. There are two major ways to do this; either by using Overture and WordTracker.

Step Four – Use Meta Tags Title Tags

Most search engines use Meta tags to generate the descriptions of websites. That is why it is good that you make a really short and descriptive title tag. This appears as a header on your websites and your search engine also makes use of it in displaying your website. It should be a minimum of fourteen words.

Step Five – Also Use Meta Tags: Description Tags

This is not actually meant for your readers but for your search engine. It describes what your site is all about. It should be a maximum of about one hundred and twenty characters for maximum effect. It should be done when you are about to submit to search engines.

Step Six – Still Using Meta Tags – Keyword Tags

The keyword tags should be laced with your most important keywords. I personally recommend five keywords for your tag. Each keyword should have at least two to three words.

Step Seven – Using Meta Tags for the Robots

You should also include a Meta tag for the robots when crawling your site.

Step Eight – Correct Errors on Your Website URL Before Submitting to Search Engines

Step Nine – Make Your Submission

After this, you can begin SEO offline.
