Search engines frown at duplicate contents. This is a fact many website publishers really think they can wish away. It means more for your SEO quest than it appears on the out side. Duplicating any content in your website is considered a crime and it is usually punishable by search engine withdrawal of their rankings. If they had found love with your site due to your earlier posts and performances, a single duplicate content you publish may likely destroy all your efforts. Let’s go through duplicate contents and how they are seem by many search engines.

Any same content that is published in two or more different pages of a given domain is rightly termed duplicate content by the search engines. The search engine spider may first spot this kind of duplicated content by comparing the titles, Meta tags and going through the pages. The established duplicate content penalty is that the site will loose ranking or would go down in search engine ranking.

While nobody will stop you from publishing whatever you desire on your site, knowing the negative effective some of your posts will have on your sites is worth noting. Even articles directories frown at duplicated articles. Some of them employ the use of very strict duplicate content filters to gauge the articles they accept on their sites.

When two or more pages of a particular site differs slightly but looks so much alike to the extent having unmistaken identities is called almost duplicate content. Whether duplicate or almost duplicate content, it doesn’t do your site SEO much good and even your site visitor may frown at either of them too.

Another usually unintentional almost duplicate content cases is the issue of publishing similar write ups especially in blog where the owner may have completely forgotten about the earlier post. This can be avoided by checking the categories and tags of your old posts.

Mirroring content appears quite acceptable by SEO because there are some sites that employ the use of the swift WordPress plugin that does it perfectly. All you need to do fill in relevant keywords and the rest is done on auto pilot. Mirroring is actually publishing the same article the exact way it had earlier been published in another site. There is no penalty yet for this and it is still being allowed and even appreciated by the search engines.

Derivative content is usually the content gotten from many mass PLR articles that has been published by many others and has little value to the reader. You don’t need to touch these kinds of articles even with the longest poles because the search engines will sure penalize you once they detect these types of articles in your sites or blogs.

The benefit of knowing these duplicate contents and the negative effect they will have on your article marketing campaign is that you will save a lot of time you would be required to re write these articles after being rejected by article directories. You may even be banned by some of the directories if you continue to submit such duplicated articles.
