Are you tired of reading articles that only laud Hostgator? Here is an objective review that reveals to you the strengths and weaknesses of Hostgator Hosting. To begin with, a note of warning for you: Most Hostgator reviews in the market are embellished in order to get you to buy Hostgator hosting through their affiliate links, so don’t fall prey. To get the genuine customers’ Hostgator review, go to Hostgator forums and check out the customer reviews section. I am writing this Hostgator review based on my personal experience with their hosting in the last 2 years. I will try as much as possible to very helpful in guiding you to choose wisely when purchasing your hosting. Let me begin this review by pointing out Hostgator’s main flaws.
The Flaws
If you expect your websites to load with lightening fast speed with Hostgator Shared Hosting which most people buy, then you need to wake up from your reverie. On a shared server, what happens is that you share one server with about 700 or 800 different websites and although the speeds you get is higher than you will get with other providers, your visitors may desire something faster – the jet age syndrome.
Secondly, Hostgator doesn’t have answers to every possible question related to hosting and cpanel and other issues in their database. Although it is possible to get whatever assistance you need via Helpdesk and Live Chat (24/7 Live), I am of the opinion that it would be better if the knowledge base available to customers could be a little more exhaustive.
I decided to include these flaws in this review because some people don’t believe that it is necessary to consider speed and knowledge base when assessing a host. If you have read this far, the next few strengths that you will be reading will do more than make a balanced review, they will blow you away. I mean that in a positive sense.
The Strengths
Ever since I started hosting with Hostgator, I have on a consistent basis been provided with almost 100 uptime. At the moment, I host over 27 domains on their hosting (all in one account) and I am yet to receive even one complaint from my thousands of daily visitors about any downtime or server issues. Even though I made an issue about speed earlier, my customers have never faced any problems with the speed at which pages open on Hostgator servers.
You should also know that I have tried over 7 webhosts (all leaders in the web hosting industry) and I am bold to tell you that Hostgator hosting has the best hosting features of them all. However, I sometimes wish they offered a free domain per customer purchase like many other leading webhosts do. My consolation is in the fact that the web hosting features are never compromised. I have a lot of heavy scripts such as Joomla, WordPress, and a few custom scripts (with CronJobs) running on my account and they all work very smoothly, like cutting through butter with a hot knife.
These are not all the flaws and strengths that exist and a few more of them I would have loved to discuss here but I will include those in another Hostgator Review. I really hope I have been of a little help in helping you purchase a good host.
