Article writing and marketing is a very effective tool for marketing your business and those who can write find it as a wonderful kind of ‘free’ marketing. Articles are supposed to be of great value to a reader providing him with some (more) information after they must have gone through the whole content. If all you have done in writing an article is to echo some other author’s voice in your dialect, then you have offered practically no value and are at the verge of losing such a customer. Your credibility is gradually fading away.

The purpose of articles ideally should be to pass across some of your knowledge and enlighten the reader on a specific subject. If what you do is to make Espresso, enlighten your readers on how to make the drink, what the ingredients are and how to order for them, the best ways of serving it etc. when you provide this kind of information to the reader, you show yourself knowledgeable in the topic being discussed and thus attract them to your website. You are usually given an opportunity at the end of your article (Resource Box) to give a bio about yourself and/or your company. You can also include your website and how you can be contacted. Customers can click on the provided links to get any available extra knowledge about you or the product/service you render. When you follow these guides, you are bound to write articles that are worthy of being read and consequently, you direct traffic to your website(s).

When you are providing information for example on how to get a certain thing done, go farther than telling your readers what to do, try as much as possible to give them examples. Examples are very helpful and they help people to learn faster. You should never take it for granted that your readers already have the same level of familiarity with the topic bring described that you do. Your readers who are also your prospective customers have different levels of knowledge about what you are discussing.

When writing How To articles, make use of step by step instructions providing comprehensive guides for them and letting them know and understand the results that should be expected at every step. This way your reader will be able to assess their progress or retrace their steps whenever and at whatever step they err.

Remove all forms of vagueness and provide real and adequate information. Do not provide only superficial information about a subject; this wastes the time of your readers and could be annoying. Take your time to make good research and provide deep, solid and usable information.

Every effective writer should know and to a degree understand the audience to which he is writing. You may make use of industry lingo when you are writing for your industry. You do not need lingoes when you are writing just to enlighten and attract new customers. When you are discussing moderately technical stuff like website development, internet marketing, back links, or e commerce, it is wise to offer good information at the right places. You sure do not want to bore and scare you readers away with difficult terms or language.

Lastly and most importantly, always remember that you are not writing to sell yourself or promote you business. If you do, rest assured that Ezines, trade magazines and newsletters will reject your work. Just providing useful information will give you a lot of credibility, take you a long way (positively), build trust for you with customers and eventually direct the needed traffic to your website.
