A very cheap way to do internet marketing is by writing and marketing with articles (article marketing). What the marketing should have cost you in terms of money; it costs you only in terms of creativity and time to create the article(s). Articles written from pure content are usually the best as they usually provide a new angle to the issue at hand.
Most subjects have been discussed somewhere, someplace, sometime by someone. And usually most other articles written on the same subject are variations or different versions of the original article. They contain basically the same information rewritten in different words.

Another reason people don’t make money is because of a lack of originality; rather than be creative and use their own words, they simply substitute sentences and paragraphs of an original article with other sentences that essentially have the same meaning – kind of like paraphrasing.
It is increasingly more difficult nowadays to ‘fool’ search engines by counterfeiting articles in this manner. You should know that Google search engine analyzes articles and determines which of the articles (of the same) topic qualifies to rank higher in page and position. An article whose content is richer usually has the upper hand. A rich content is one which is very informative and easy to read.
If you are reading this article, my advice to you is to carve your own writing ‘signature’; your style and be very original. Let people be able to recognize you as the author by mere reading your work.

Just write one article and you can get almost 10s of backlinks if not 100s of. If you submit unique version of you articles to different directories then you may need lesser backlinks to promote your website.
